Rock Paper Scissors Online will feature a classic 'Battle' mode which you can play against your friends. This is an asynchronous mode, so you'll be able to make moves even if your opponent isn't available at the time. There is also matchmaking, where you can play against people whose skill is comparable to yours and have a good ping time. There is a 'Psychological Play' mode, in which you get all information about your opponent, including his bio, Facebook and Twitter timelines, and the frequency at which he picks Stone, Paper, or Scissors, before you choose what move to use against him. Due to the short playtime per game, you can get lots of satisfaction in one sitting, and because of the high chance of winning there are few rage-quits. There will also be an 'Advanced' mode, which includes popular extra gestures (the 'Lizard' and 'Spock') for even more strategic, deep play. A 'Multitasking' mode, where you play against 15 opponents at the same time using all your keyboard keys, will also be added in a future patch.
There is also a more game-like "Quest" mode. Here, you'll use Rocks, Papers or Scissors to attack your enemy in an RPG-like battle and reduce their HP. Use special skills like 'Mind-reading', 'Counter' or 'Illusion' to prevent getting downed yourself. The game has permadeath, so the tenses are ever as high, but the rewards (mostly cool hats) will be totally worth it. The game has different classes- for example, the Assassin uses dual blades with which you can pick a tool two times to split your risks, and the Mage also has to do timing sequences to increase the strength of their attacks. Of course, you can also battle other players- battle epic duels against your friends, or finish of innocent noobs just because it's fun!
There is also a tournament mode, in which you face off against 1023 other players in a 16-round tournament bracket. Only half of all players can win each round, so do you best- one wrong move and you're out. If you're able to win all sixteen battles, you get a glorious, sparkling badge on your profile, which you can improve by winning more tournaments. All our main tournaments are presented by two show hosts, which will provide commentary on all the matches on our Rock Paper Scissors Online Twitch channel.
Rock Paper Scissors MMO will be freemium. If you lose a game of Rock Paper Scissors, you can spend one Unobtainium[tm] to turn the match around. Literally! If your win just turned into a loss because of this- no worries: you only have to spend TWO Unobtainium[tm] to turn the game back into your favor. Certain skills in the Quest mode also require Unobtainium[tm], and if you want to revive you must do that with Unobtainium[tm] as well. Just one piece of Unobtainium[tm] can be bought for the low, low price of $40. To help new players out when they join the game, you will start your adventure with a special -5 Unobtainium[tm]. We are looking to convert other classic games, such as Snakes and Ladders, Conway's Game of Life, and Ludo, to a freemium format as well.
